VENUES

As wedding planners we're really excited that industrial venue weddings are coming through in a big way for 2018. It gives us the chance to get creative with couples that are willing to embrace something a little different. Think large warehouse spaces that act as the perfect blank canvas to stamp your own individual style.

Key trends that support this style will be floral ceiling installations supported by feature lighting such as Edison Bulbs as well as edgy neon signage replacing light up letters. Big florals decorate and soften spaces and provide a juxtaposition that ensures you don't compromise on the wedding vibe.

FLORALS

2017 was the year for greenery thanks to Pantone's Colour of The Year. The good news is greenery is here to stay and we'll be seeing plenty more oversized and unstructured bouquets and decorative arrangements.

2018 wedding trends see bright bold florals with couples embracing colour as well as texture. From a styling perspective ceiling installations will continue to be a major feature with florals mixing with lighting to create visually spectacular focal points.

An increase in texture will also come from the use of interesting vessels. Whether it's greenery in Bell Jars, vintage cut glass or geometrics the vessel will be as important as the arrangement.

STYLING

Marble, copper and geometrics will continue to act as all important styling accents for 2018 weddings. These elements on muted blues and greys will form the perfect setting for modern couples looking to incorporate stylish tones in their big day. As wedding stylists we love to play with texture and we're super excited to mix natural soft materials such as raw silk with natural materials next year. It's all about layering.

See through elements such as signage and place cards have already started to feature in weddings and the trend will continue well into 2018. Think acrylics, hand written glass signage and using windows in new and interesting ways.

creating a food and drinks experience

2018 wedding trends will see couples explore and push the boundaries when it comes to creating a memorable and unique drinking and dining experience. Expect to see opulent grazing tables and delicious dessert stations as well as more exotic cuisines such as Mexican and Japanese coming through in reception dining spaces.

Food Trucks and Mobile Bars (Prossecco Van anyone?) will also become more popular as a number of couples opt for a more relaxed approach to the reception and sit down dinners make way for more outdoor cocktail events.

For those still keeping it formal serving classic cocktails or a 'signature drink' on arrival is a great way to create a memorable experience for your guests. Whisky stations or 'create your own' cocktail stations will add a visually fun and immersive experience for guests to talk about well after the big day.

wedding cakes

The time old tradition of the wedding cake is here to stay but as with everything else in 2018 it's getting funkier. Geometrics, metallics and detailing will massively cut through next year. Expect to see some real works of sugary, sweet art.

BRIDAL TRENDS

Back in 2016 the number one pinned dress on Pinterest was Grace Loves Lace's Hollie gown. With GLL offering boho brides stunning dresses at reasonable prices it's clear to the industry that while many brides still opt for formal full dresses, the relaxed gown is here to stay. This year relaxed, floaty and boho trends continue in their popularity with Bridal Separates becoming a mainstream trend.

3D florals were a massive feature at Bridal Fashion Week this year with high end couture brands such as Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa and Lela Rose and this trend continues to trickle through to mainstream bridal brands.

For accessories - natural resources such as pearls and crystals will offer brides an opportunity to add some glamour not only with earrings but crystal crowns (could this be the end of the floral crown?), headpieces and embellishments.
